SB 407 -- PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY DISTRICTS
SPONSOR: Shoemyer (Deeken)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on Government Affairs by a vote of 7 to 0.
This bill allows a public water supply district to contract with
another water district or municipality to sell water in the other
entity's service area.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2008, FY 2009, and
FY 2010.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill clarifies the law to
allow municipalities to trade water. Water districts and
municipalities currently co-mingle and transfer water on a
regular basis. This correction will make those transfers legal.
Testifying for the bill were Senator Shoemyer; Missouri Rural
Water Association; and Missouri Association of Municipal
Utilities.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
